Yellow Jersey and Monthly Contest Rules

There are two parts to this contest: the one-time Race to the Yellow Jersey contest, and then ongoing monthly prizes for participating members.

The person with the most points on October 31, 2008 at 1 PM Mountain Standard Time wins the "Yellow Jersey", contest and takes home $10,000. On October 31, 2008 prizes for 2nd through 10th place will be awarded as well and the contest will come to an end. Below are the prizes.

  • 1st place $10,000 and a FREE entry to ride in the El Tour De Tucson
  • 2nd place brand new carbon Orbea bike
  • 3rd place Zipp 404 clincher wheel set
  • 4th thru 10th Garmin Edge

Rules:

The person with the most points on October 31, 2008 at 1 PM Mountain Standard Time wins the Yellow Jersey contest and takes home $10,000 and a FREE entry to ride in the El Tour De Tucson. Winner must come to Tucson, Az the weekend of the El Tour De Tucson which is on Saturday November 22, 2008 to pick up the check. Winner is responsible for their own travel expenses to get to Tucson.

  • 2nd place wins a brand new carbon Orbea bike.
  • 3rd place wins brand new pair of Zipp 404 Clincher Wheel set.
  • 4th through 10th will receive a Garmin Edge.

Rides must be complete valid rides. Points will not be awarded for riding your bike around the block.

Who's got the Yellow Jersey? The person with the most points has the Yellow Jersey. It is like the Tour De France many people will probably wear the Yellow Jersey from day-to-day but only won person will take home the $10,000 prize and be the RoadBikeRides.com Yellow Jersey GC winner.

  • 35% of the point totals must come from ride submissions to qualify to win.
  • Rides must be complete, valid rides. Points will not be awarded for riding your bike around the block.
  • You will only get points for 5 photos per ride.
  • Only one video per person per ride will earn points.
  • Only your first 50 posts are valid for contest points.
  • Only your first two blog articles that are used will be valid for contest points.

Rules, Terms and Conditions of RoadBikeRides.com “Yellow Jersey” Contest:

  1. The "Yellow Jersey" contest ("Contest") is organized by Outdoor Activities LLC / RoadBikeRides.com ("Organizers").
  2. Participation in Contest is purely voluntary. There is no participation fee. To be eligible for the participation in the Contest, participant must be the age of 18 years at the time of participation in the Contest.
  3. Preliminary Contest shall be open on March 25th, 2008 and end on October 31, 2008 at 1 PM Mountian Standard Time. The RoadBikeRides.com member with the most points wins the "Yellow Jersey" point status ("Contest Period"), as determined by RoadBikeRides.com sole discretion.
  4. Names of Final Winners shall be posted on Organizer's website www.roadbikerides.com ("Website"). Final Winners shall also be informed individually by email. The winner of the $10,000 cash prize must come to Tucson, AZ on the weekend of November 22nd during the El Tour De Tucson.
  5. 35% of the point totals must come from complete ride submissions to qualify to win.
  6. The definition of "complete ride submission" is as follows: Bike route is mapped or uploaded to RoadBikeRides.com, Each section of the "Submit a Ride" page is completed, Ride Name, City or Town, State, Distance, Difficulty Level, Ride Description, Recommended Food, Coffee Juice Joints, Bathrooms along the route, Recommended Bike Shops.
  7. All Rides must be valid rides as determined by Roadbikerides.com sole discretion. For example, Points will not be awarded for riding your bike around a neighborhood block. Roadbikerides.com reserves the right to do random "ride checks" and if it determines, in its sole discretion, that a posted ride is invalid, Points will be removed from your account and you will be disqualified from the contest at Roadbikerides.com election.
  8. Submit articles for the blog. If article is used points towards 'Member Levels' will be given.
  9. Organizers decision in regard to Winners shall be final and binding. No communication or objection shall be entertained in this regard.
  10. Winners of any Prizes for traveling aboard shall have to make their own arrangement for traveling documents such as passport, visa, foreign exchange etc. at their own costs and expenses. Organizers shall not be responsible for making any arrangement for such documents and shall not entertain any request in this regard.
  11. Prizes received under Contest shall not be transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or otherwise. Prizes cannot be substituted for other articles or gifts.
  12. Names, addresses, telephone numbers, e-mail identities and/or photographs of Winners may be used by Organizers at their sole discretion for sending out commercial information and/or for other commercial, publicity or promotional purposes. Winners who do not wish to receive such information may select such option on Website or clearly indicate so in a communication sent to Organizers by recorded delivery.
  13. Organizers shall not be responsible for any cost, expense or other liability whatsoever in relation to, arising from or connected with Prizes. Organizers shall not be responsible for any injury, loss, damage or other consequence whatsoever arising from, suffered or incurred by Winner from or in relation to Prizes.
  14. Contest shall be subject to the laws of Arizona, including tax laws, rules and regulations as may be applicable to Winners. Winners shall be solely responsible for payment of applicable taxes to concerned authorities in respect of the Prizes as may be required by law prior to delivery of Prizes. Winners shall be required to show proof of tax payment and also sign a declaration as per the format provided by the Organizers in respect of the taxes paid by the Winner as applicable on the prizes.
  15. Organizers offer no guarantee or warranty in respect of any of the prizes. The manufacturers, services providers, supplier of the Prizes alone shall be liable for any guarantee or warranty, if any.
  16. All costs and expenses for collecting, redeeming or utilizing the Prize/s will be borne by the respective Winner and no claim of whatsoever nature will be entertained by the Organizers in this regard. Apart from the entitlement to the prize, the winner or his/her legal heirs will have no other rights or claims against Outdoor Activities LLC
  17. All decisions of Organizers in relation to Contest shall be final and binding upon participants and Winners. No correspondence or objection shall be entertained in this regard.
  18. Employees Outdoor Activities LLC / RoadBikeRides.com of M/s or their associate, subsidiary or joint venture companies and their respective immediate family members shall not be eligible to participate in Contest.
  19. Participation in this Contest implies acceptance of all the terms and conditions of the Contest.
  20. Any controversy or claim arising out of or relating to any contest or the terms and conditions, shall be settled by binding arbitration before a single arbitrator in Tucson, Arizona in accordance with the Arizona Arbitration Act (A.R.S. § 12-1501, et seq.). Judgment upon the award may be entered in any court having jurisdiction. This arbitration does not preclude a judicial provisional remedy to prevent irreparable harm and/or to maintain the status quo pending the arbitration hearing. The sole and exclusive judicial forum for matters relating to the arbitration agreement is the superior court and district court in Pima County, Arizona and the parties waive any claim of inconvenience or inappropriate forum. Should the parties fail to agree on an arbitrator within 10 days of a demand for arbitration, the then civil presiding judge of the superior court in Pima County, Arizona shall make the selection. The party substantially prevailing at arbitration or on an application for a provisional remedy, shall recover its reasonable attorney's fees, legal expenses, including arbitrator's fees, and costs from the other party.
