Ride directions are automatically be created if the Follow roads (auto route) function is selected within the Preferences.

You must check the Follow roads (auto route) checkbox before you start creating your route. When you "submit" the map the ride description page appears and the "Ride Directions" box will contain the Google route directions. You can still edit the directions.

GPX uploads and non-auto route maps cannot use this feature.

If you create a map with auto-route, save it, then edit the map, when you go to the description page the Ride Directions will have new Google directions reflecting changes to the map.

In fact, currently, all ride directions will be over-written in edit mode with either the new Google directions or blank space. The reason being some members will assume directions are automatically updated when the map is updates. Unfortunately that wipes out the hard work on directions for other map edit cases. We are the middle of discussing how to deal with this. As a work around, if you want to keep your directions intact when editing a ride, cut and paste the directions from the Ride Profile view, save them in Word or any text program, then paste them into the Ride Directions field after editing the map.

We appreciate you comments, feedback, and suggestions about how you use this feature.
