Ride Description

This is an awesome ride that starts in Scottsdale, AZ, heads out to Cave Creek and then to Bartlett lake. This is a challenging ride! Once on Bartlett Dam Road you are either climbing or descending. The desert scenery is beautiful. If you are not up for 60 miles you can park anywhere along the route to make the ride shorter. Potential Hazards: there are spots were there or NO bike lanes so be careful especially with the trucks towing boats. To avoid the boaters this ride is best to do in late fall, winter and early spring.

Start Location and Parking

Park in the shopping center where Bicycle Ranch Bike Shop is located on Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd and Hwy 101. The shopping center is on the east side of the 101 Hwy. Note: if you are not up for 60 miles you can park anywhere along the route to make the ride shorter.

Ride Directions

From the sopping center on the east side of the 101 Hwy and Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd turn left and then take your next right on Pima Rd. Pima Rd parallels the 101 Hwy. Turn right on N. Pima Rd heading north. Take Pima Rd. until you get to Cave Creek Rd and then turn right heading east. Turn right on Bartlett Dam Rd and ride until you get to Bartlett lake. Turn around and follow the same route home. Once back to the 101 go through the intersection on Pima Rd and the 101 so you are on the west side of the 101 turn left on Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd and head back to your car.

There are tons of good restaurants around the Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd and Hwy 101 are. There is a Starbucks and Jamba Juice in the start location shopping center.

Food, Water, & Bathrooms along route

Fuel up before you leave there are not many places to stop along the way. There is a visitors center about 1/4 mile down the road once you turn on Bartlett Dam Road and the marina at Bartlett lake.
