This is an awesome ride! Up there with one of the best rides in the state of Arizona. The road is in great shape with plenty of shoulder room for bikes. Plus the scenery is breath taking. Just be prepared for wind. There is a huge bike lane throughout most of the ride plus there are NO traffic lights.
There is a side out and back you can do to add mileage to the ride. At mile 10 going out there is a paved road to the north side of the road that takes you up to on observatory. You will see a sigh that says Marshall Lake on the way out and on the way back. This is a great little climb. This side ride will add 3 miles to your ride and an additional 424 ft of climbing.
Potential Hazards: The first 6 miles heading out and the last 6 miles coming back to Flagstaff the bike lane shoulder is not as wide as the rest of the ride. Just be careful for cars during this section of the ride.
Park in the Bashas' / Walmart shopping center which is located on Beulah Blvd and Woodlands Village Dr. As you enter into Flagstaff off of 1-17 turn left at the first stop light which is Forest Meadow St. You can see the shopping center from there.
There are tons of places to eat around the start and finish point of the ride. There is a Quiznos Subs on Milton on the east side of the road as you enter Flagstaff from I-17.
There are a couple general stores along the ride. One at mile 7 heading out and at mile 51 coming back. Plus the Mormon Lake Lodge at mile 30.
