Ride Description

A scenic tour of north central Muskingum county.  The route takes mainly back roads so be prepared for occasional gravel, dogs and bumpy roads. Most of the climbs (there are many) are short and steep. I'd recommend a 27 in the back or a compact/triple. Traffic is extremely light except for parts of Creamery, 60 and through towns.

Be careful on Newark Rd/Woods Rd. There is gravel on some of the descents.

Use caution coming down the other side of the climb up Airy View. There is gravel and blind/tight corners.

The ride directions below aren't accurate. The roads are in order but the turns (directions) are off.

The elevation is also off. If anyone takes their garmin with them on this ride, let me know the true elevation gain, I'm sure it is more than 1500 ft.

Start Location and Parking

There are many places to start this route. I use First Christian church on the corner of Dresden and Military because it is close to my home. It has ample parking.

You may choose to start anywhere in Dresden. The new elementary on Main has plenty of parking and is where I would begin if I was driving.

The old middle school would be an excellent starting point from Frazeysburg.

Ride Directions

Food, Coffee and Juice Joints close to Start/Finish

The Dairy Twist in Dresden right next to the Elementary as you're coming into town on Main St. is a good place for a snack.

Food, Water, & Bathrooms along route

There are restaurants and gas stations in all three towns and at other points along the ride.

I did this route today in just under 4 hours with stops. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time, it's a slow route.

The winds were calm and the sky was clear. It was about 85 F. I managed to average just under 16 with a normalized power of 225w. I weigh 160.
