This is a very short loop, involving the last climb section used in the northern california route of the Tour of California in 2008
This loop can be rather difficult because of the intensity of the climb with little or no warm-up before hand.
This is also a road used in a couple of local time trial events held throughout the summer and fall.
Once you turn left onto Sierra Rd. (from Piedmont Rd.) you will see "the wall". A very short section of climb that is just long enough to get a burn in your legs, before it levels off and starts tracking the average of about 12%
This route is also extremely exposed, highly recommend NOT doing this when the temp outside is beyond 85degrees
Piedmont High School student parking lot. Usually open on weekends, and during the summer weekdays. There is a church on Sierra Rd. as well.
The intersection of Sierra Rd. and Piedmont Rd. has a liquor store, but thats about it for food/coffee/juice etc.
Liquor stores at intersection of Sierra Rd. and Piedmont Rd. you can get water, gatorade, red bull. Dairy Queen is also at this intersection and they have a bathroom.
None in the area, bring your emergency repair kits.
